SEATTLE FISHERMEN'S MEMORIAL TILE PROJECT
The Seattle Fishermen's Memorial welcomes applications for engraved memorial tiles to be installed at the Fishermen's Memorial site at Fishermen's Terminal in Seattle. Tiles will be installed once per year prior to the annual Memorial Service conducted on the first Sunday in May. The first tiles will be installed upon completion of the pier renovation in the fall of 2005.
Donations collected through the Memorial Tile Project will be used to further our mission of promoting safety in the fishing fleets and easing the burdens of the families and friends of fishermen/women lost at sea.
The Memorial Board of Directors has the responsibility of approving the names to be placed on the tiles, and reserves the right to reject any text considered inappropriate. Tiles will be installed on a first come first serve basis starting at the center and working outward.
TYPES OF TILES
There are two types of tiles to choose from. The purpose of the Memory Tiles is to recognize fishermen lost at sea, and those who made significant contributions to the seafood industry. Support Tiles are available to anyone.
Memory Tiles
Names that appear on Memory Tiles can be:
Fishermen/women who were lost at sea and whose residence address at the time of death was in the greater Seattle area; or,
People no longer living (including those not lost at sea) who were directly associated with the seafood industry, and who have made long term commitments or significant contributions to the seafood industry which is based in the greater Seattle area.
"Fishermen" includes processors and observers working on fishing vessels.
"Residence" criteria include the vessel homeport or the vessel owner's corporate office location.
Text ,in addition to a person's name, can also be included on a Memory Tile (see photo), subject to approval by the Committee.
The Memory Tile area is located in front of the Memorial at the north end of the Fishermen's Center building.
Support Tiles
Support Tiles can be purchased by individuals, families or businesses. Friends or families of fishermen who don't qualify for the Memorial or Memory Tiles can also purchase Support Tiles. The tiles can e engraved with the names of individuals or businesses, as well as test, subject to approval by the Committee. The support Tiles area is located just south of the Memory Tile area.

Size
All tiles will be the same size - 3 inches in height by 12 inches long. The type-style will be Lydian Bold; type height is ¾ inches tall, with up to 20 characters per line and a maximum of 2 lines per tile. No logos or drawings will be allowed.
CostMemory Tile - $500 (minimum)
Support Tile - $1000 (minimum)
Although there is a minimum price for each tile, donations above this amount are graciously accepted.
