Seattle Fishermen's Memorial Educational Scholarship
About The Scholarship: The Memorial is a charitable organization devoted to promoting safety in the fishing fleets and easing the emotional and financial burden of surviving family members of fishermen lost at sea. In furtherance of this commitment, the Memorial Board established an educational scholarship fund in 1999 to provide scholarships to eligible family members and other dependents who suffered the tragedy of losing their loved ones to the sea. The Board's hope is that the scholarships will lessen the financial burden on these families and dependents who may not otherwise achieve their educational goals.
Now Accepting Donations: All donations to the scholarship fund are tax deductible charitable contributions and are used exclusively for educational scholarships. All checks should be made payable to "Seattle Fishermen's Memorial Scholarship Fund" and mailed to Seattle Fishermen's Memorial, P.O. Box 17356, Seattle, WA 98127.
Eligibility Requirements: Eligibility for awards is contingent on satisfying the following criteria:
Applicants must be members of the fishermen's immediate family (i.e., spouse and/or children) or individuals who were financially dependent on the fishermen at the time of death. The fishermen's name must be either on the Seattle Fishermen's Memorial or, if the loss of life only recently occurred, the fishermen's name must have been approved by the Board for placement on the Seattle Fishermen's Memorial.
Applicants must show significant financial dependence on the fishermen and financial need for funds to be used for educational purposes.
